The Best Ways to Relieve Stress Naturally

The Best Ways to Relieve Stress Naturally

Natural practices can help you relieve stress

We’ve all been there - life can be hectic, and we don’t always know where to turn. Anti-anxiety medications can help, but they’re never permanent and often have unwanted side effects. Thankfully, there are so many ways that you can relieve stress naturally using a few techniques and products that come from the earth.

Set a calming routine for yourself

Our brains are continually coming up with plans and making decisions. This is good! It keeps us alert and allows us to make the most out of the situations we're in. However, making all these choices can lead to decision fatigue, wearing us out before knowing it. This makes us tired and, you guessed it, stressed.

Keeping to a general routine helps us make the most of the choices we need to and skip out on those we don't. Try setting the alarm for the same time every morning, and go to sleep at the same time every night. Maybe even decide what you'll have for breakfast the night before! Every time you can standardize a set of decisions, you free up time for yourself to think about the things that matter.

Practice mindfulness techniques

Incorporating mindfulness practices into your routine can help you keep unwanted thoughts and anxieties at bay. This doesn't have to be complicated - you can start by focusing on your breathing in the morning for just one minute. This intentional breathing helps you stay aware of your inner thoughts and your body's needs while grounding you in reality.

Once you feel comfortable in this first step, you can dive deeper into mindfulness techniques. Extend the amount of time you spend just breathing, or start doing daily stretches, guided meditations, or yoga. There are hundreds of options out there to help you soothe an overactive mind.

Make the switch to tea instead of coffee

Coffee lovers may think this sounds crazy, but there are real benefits to choosing alternatives on particularly high-stress days. True, coffee is natural, but excessive amounts can keep your heart rate elevated and your thoughts racing. Giving up coffee doesn't mean you have to give up your high-powered, fast-paced lifestyle, though!

All tea has something called L-theanine, a natural amino acid that helps counteract the worst parts of being caffeinated. If you're feeling stressed, you can drink a non-caffeinated tea like chamomile - but you don't have to choose non-caffeinated options!

Green and black tea, which is highly caffeinated, also contains L-theanine. This makes them great options to get your daily caffeine fix without making you feel like you're bouncing off the walls with stress.

Take time to pamper yourself

Living your life on auto-pilot can often make you forget to slow down and take care of yourself. Time can pass by so quickly that before you know it, that book you wanted to read is still sitting on your nightstand, or that trip you wanted to plan is still just a distant "what-if.". Sound familiar?

You don't have to spend hours a day or hundreds of dollars a week on treating yourself. There are so many ways you can use natural products and ingredients to take care of your body and mind. Think of it as a little thank-you gift to yourself for keeping life running so smoothly.

Set aside time before bed to ensure you get a restful sleep

This last step goes hand-in-hand with the first. As much as you need a morning routine, you also need help getting yourself to sleep at night. Sleep affects so much of our lives - we process thoughts while asleep, and getting more sleep helps us keep stress at bay.

Aromatherapy can help increase contentment and decrease cortisol, the stress hormone. You can harness the effects of aromatics with L'Beauxtique's unique Evening Body Serum, which is made from plant-based ingredients and essential oils to create a relaxing, one-of-a-kind, carefully curated pampering routine.

We don't all have time to sleep as much as we should, so we need to make the most of the time we do have. Blue light affects our sleep patterns, even if we manage to fall asleep quickly. It can make us restless and wake up feeling tired. If you can, try to stay off your phone, laptop, or TV in the hour before bed.

Going to bed at the same time every night helps our bodies get used to the fact that it's time to sleep so that we can minimize time spent awake and anxious.

These tips to relieve stress naturally are simple but effective

Note that we didn't say easy. It can be challenging to prioritize yourself when it feels like there are so many other parts of life that matter - but you matter, too.

These routines and self-care practices will genuinely help you become a more calm, de-stressed person. It's okay if you can't use them all the time - but gradually, they will help you learn to prioritize yourself again.

We'll be doling out ways to help you on this journey. Subscribe to our newsletter for more tips and conversations.
